Trump Iowa Visits: Two Trips Planned Before Election
The trump iowa visits will come in two waves, according to reports Thursday: President Donald Trump is set to travel to Iowa on Tuesday for a speech focused on energy and the economy, and has told Iowa Republicans he plans a second, campaign-focused stop before Election Day.
White House chief of staff Susie Wiles told pool reporters during Trump’s visit to Switzerland that the president will travel to Iowa on Tuesday. The speech will center on energy and the economy, though officials have not yet released the time or exact location.
Tuesday Speech on Energy and Economy
The Iowa trip was disclosed by Wiles as Trump wrapped up his Switzerland visit. Iowa media reported that the Tuesday visit will focus on the administration’s energy and economic agenda.
It would be Trump’s first Iowa appearance since July, when he delivered an hour-long speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines to kick off the America250 celebrations ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
A Pre-Election Campaign Stop
Separately, Iowa Republicans say a second visit is in the works before voters go to the polls. Joe Mitchell, the GOP nominee in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, told Newsmax this week that Trump has said he plans to campaign in Iowa before Election Day, though no date or location has been confirmed.
Mitchell, who faces Democrat Lindsay James for the seat being vacated by Rep. Ashley Hinson, said a Trump visit could lift turnout in the final weeks. The Nov. 3 midterms will decide control of Congress, with several Iowa races — including the open Senate seat Hinson is now seeking — rated competitive.
