Trump Greenville Rally: Backing Darline Graham’s Senate Bid

The trump greenville rally is reportedly on: President Donald Trump plans to travel to Greenville, South Carolina, next Wednesday to campaign for Sen. Darline Graham, according to a report this week by MS Now, cited by the Greenville News. The visit would mark his second trip to the Palmetto State on Graham’s behalf as she defends her Senate seat in the Nov. 3 midterms.

Graham, 62, was appointed to the seat by Gov. Henry McMaster after the death of her brother, longtime Sen. Lindsey Graham. She won the Aug. 25 Republican runoff against Rep. Ralph Norman, boosted by Trump’s in-person Myrtle Beach rally and a tele-rally the night before the vote.

A Tight General Election

Graham now faces Democrat Dr. Annie Andrews, a pediatrician, in the Nov. 3 general election. A Trafalgar Group poll of 1,087 voters in September showed Graham leading by a single point, 43% to 42%, an unusually close margin for a state South Carolina Republicans typically win comfortably.

Trump has tied his own name to the race, telling voters during the runoff campaign to vote as if he were on the ballot himself. His allied super PAC spent more than $800,000 on voter outreach for Graham, according to federal election records.

Second Trip to the Palmetto State

The Oct. 21 rally would be Trump’s second South Carolina appearance for Graham after the runoff campaign. Three sources told MS Now the event is planned for somewhere in Greenville, though details were subject to change, and the White House had not confirmed the trip as of Oct. 14.

The visit is part of a busy midterm travel stretch for the president: the Trump 47 Committee announced earlier that Trump will visit North Carolina on Oct. 20, the day before the planned Greenville stop.
