ALDI Price Cuts: Discounts on a Third of Products
The latest ALDI price cuts will lower prices on nearly one-third of the products the discount grocer regularly stocks, a move the company says will save American shoppers about $86 million.
The reductions, announced from the company’s US headquarters in Batavia, Illinois, cover fall staples including pears, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and spaghetti squash. Family packs of Kirkwood chicken breast are now priced at $1.99 per pound, the lowest level since 2022.
What’s Getting Cheaper at ALDI
The discounts will remain in place through at least November 3, giving households several weeks of relief at the checkout.
ALDI has built its reputation on rock-bottom prices, and the chain often uses broad price cuts to draw foot traffic away from larger rivals. Industry watchers say the move could pressure competitors to respond with their own discounts.
Lower prices on staples like chicken and produce hit directly at the center of the weekly shop, where families feel inflation most acutely. Even modest per-item savings add up across a full cart.
Why Grocery Prices Still Hurt
The timing matters. Grocery shoppers have been squeezed by rising costs for fresh fruit and beef, and food prices remain a top concern for families heading into the holiday season.
Discount grocers have gained market share in recent years as inflation pushed shoppers to hunt for value, and ALDI has expanded aggressively across the United States to meet that demand.
Shoppers looking to take advantage will find the lower prices already reflected on shelves, with the deepest cuts concentrated on seasonal produce and proteins. Whether the move sparks a wider grocery price war remains to be seen.
